Fry Reading Drills – Advanced

Book. Designed to help readers improve their reading speed and comprehension. Each book emphasizes timed reading passages followed by two types of comprehension questions, two types of cloze passages and a vocabulary in context drill. Thirty passages are divided into three sets of ten each. Set C is the easiest to read, Set A is a medium difficulty, and Set B is the most difficult

Book Series. Timed Readings are books of fifty 400-word passages with ten comprehension questions for each passage. Organized by levels of increasing difficulty. The fifty passages within each level are at the same level of difficulty. Gives readers practice in reading relatively short passages and answering comprehension questions.

Skimming and Scanning

Book. Helps readers increase their reading speed and accuracy by using skimming and scanning techniques. Readers read a selection and record their skimming or scanning time on a words-per-minute basis. Practice exercises test reader’s comprehension of the selection.

Timed Readings

Workbook and 12 Audio Tapes. Helps develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking vocabularies. Readers choose a word list and listen to the corresponding 15 minute tape. Readers take brief notes from the tape and then answer questions based on the words reviewed. Answer key provided.

Book series. Letters indicate increasing level of difficulty. Uses a step-by-step, programmed method to teach students meanings of words. Each unit starts with a story. Then students are given 10 words to master from the story. Words are reintroduced and reiterated in separate frames where the first frame introduces the word, the second frame gives clues as to the words meaning and the third frame gives the dictionary definition. Answer key is provided.
